SHAFER - Lodema L., age 81, of Baxter Springs, KS, passed
from this life Friday, September 21, 2007 at 3:35 p.m., at a Joplin,
MO, care center after an illness. Lodema was born May 24, 1926 to
the union of Charles Richard and Mamie Zella Hudson Culver in Blue
Jacket, OK. She moved to Baxter Springs, in 1953 from Miami, OK, and
had made her home there for over 54 years. She was a member of the
First Baptist Church of Baxter Springs, and the former Magnolia
Chapter of the Eastern Star. She was a member of the Cherokee Chicks
and the-Family Service extension in Columbus, KS. Lodema L. Culver
and Harold Shafer were united in marriage in Baxter Springs, April
5, 1953, he survives at their home. Other loved ones who survive
include her son, Stanley Charles Shafer and wife, Laurie Shafer of
Baxter Springs; 1 daughter, Sandra Shafer Preston and husband,
Robert "Dago" Preston of Tulsa; 2 sisters, Trella Fisher and Loretta
Profit, both of Miami; 4 grandchildren, Shanel Shafer-Alexander,
David Shafer, Skeet Preston and Cory Preston; 3 great-grandchildren,
Nathan Bohannan, Javen Alexander and Cassidy Preston; and lots of
nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her
parents, 4 sisters and 1 brother, and by her beloved daughter, Linda
Kay Huxall in December 2, 1992. Graveside service was Monday,
September 24, 2007, at the Baxter Cemetery in Baxter Springs.
