HENNESSEY Sixty-seven miles south of Wichita, Kansas, on the line of the C.R.I. & P.R'y and three and one-half miles south of the boundary line of the Cherokee Strip. It has a population of 1,300; has Methodist, Congregational, Baptist and Catholic churches, a bank with $50,000 capital; roller mill, Board of Trade; country is prairie and produces wheat, oats, rye, and all kinds of cereals in abundance. Has Western Union Telegraph and United States Express Cos., two weekly papers. Guy Gillett, post-master. Masons, Odd Fellows and G.A.R. have organizations.
