MINUTES OF THE MOUNT PLEASANT CHURCH

March 30, 1851

Session met at the usual place of worship and was opened with prayer.

Present Rev C. C. Copeland, Modr.

Elders:
I. Folsom
N. Cochnauer

Cisteen Battie a member of this church, who was suspended for grossly immoral and unchristian conduct, having removed beyond the bounds of this church, and gone to parts unknown to the session, Resd. that she is no longer considered a member of this church.

The cases of George Perkins and his wife Jane Perkins, Elsy Wade and Sally Ann Baptiste, all of whom have been living in constant neglect of Christian duties, were deferred till the session could learn something more of their religious state. Had a recess till after morning services. After recess, session met and there being no business before it, closed with prayer.

Chester Moseley and Charles presented themselves before the session to be examined as candidates for admission to the church.

After a full examination, the session being satisfied with their religious experience Res'd. that they be received.

Shema, a member of this church appeared and had a conversation with the session in regard to a reported difficulty with her husband, but from all the session could learn of the case, she had done nothing worthy of discipline.

Closed with prayer.

Mt. Pleasant  June 15, 1851

Session met and was opened with prayer.

Edmund Bohannan appeared to converse with the session in regard to the interests of his soul.

Delia Major appeared as a candidate for admission to the church. After a full examination, Resd. that she be received.

Edward Major also appeared and wished to be received to the fellowship of the church. After some conversation with him the session Resd. that his case be deferred till some future time.

Closed with prayer.

Tomahuski  Aug 3, 1851

Session met and was opened with prayer.

Geo. Hall, Lafayette Mosley, Molletomtobi and Aiokli presented themselves to be examined as candidates for admission to the church. After examination, Resd. that they be received.

Shahbichi a member of this church, having forsaken his family and refusing to return to them, and having, as we are credibly informed, indulged in the use of intoxication drinks, besides neglecting his duties as a Christian, therefore Resd. that he be suspended from all the privileges of this church until such time as he shall give good evidence of repentance and reformation.
