Vol. 77, p. 319

I, Sherman Brown, was born in Kittanning, Pennsylvania of R. C. Brown and Nancy Brown.  They were both white.

My parent came to what is now Oklahoma in 1867 from Pennsylvania.  From Chetopa Kansas they had to come in wagons. My ancestors engaged in frming and stock raising.

I am now a farmer and stock breeder.

I have been a member of the county Election Board; school board clerk and Notary Public.  I am the oldest resident of this community.

"My family are Creeks and all my kin, except a nephew and niece and their families are either Creeks or Euchees.  I am a brother-in-law to Thomas PERRYMAN and nephew of William F. (Red Neck) BROWN, an adopted white man of whom with Captian BELCHER, F. B. Severs and one other white man, was adopted by the Creek national Council.”
