(Above) Dave Blue Trading Post was located half a mile east of the Chisholm Cattle Trail or Arbuckle Cattle Trail. Map makers of the 1870s mistakenly called this area Cherokeetown. Blue hired Cherokees and Creeks to kill wild buffalo in the early 1870s and to deliver the hides to Atoka for shipment east. Photograph courtesy of Carleta Latham.
(Right) McFarlin Memorial Church was built through the generosity of Robert M. McFarlin and his wife, Ida Barnard McFarlin, in memory of their infant son who died of typhoid fever at the age of nineteen months and 10 days. He was buried in the IOOF Cemetery where a sundial and benches now mark his grave and those of his father and mother. Photograph courtesy of CardCow.com.
