The Faxon Cemetery is a beautiful and very well-cared
for cemetery. Going west out of Faxon, go .9 mile, turn right on SW
Logue Chapel Road for .3 mile. and the cemetery is on the right. In
1904, a child was buried in a plot of ground on the farm of Mr. William Peters.
In early 1906, Mr. Peters donated land for burials. It was called the Modern
Woodmen Cemetery. On September 8, 1909, the Modern Woodmen Cemetery
Association of Faxon deeded the land to Faxon Camp No.10778. On May
18, 1921, the Modern Woodmen of America gave a deed to the Faxon Coemetery
Association. Additional land was purchased from Cora Permamsu (Pah-de-Co)
in March 1925.
With the help of my granddaughter, Candace, I photographed
the headstones with my digital camera. Some names and dates are hard
to read, if I have made a mistake in transcribing names and dates, I apologize
for it.
