Happy Hollow School
Comanche County

Happy Hollow school was located north of Hiway 277 between Elgin and Porter Hill.  The school was opened in 1905 and closed about 1954.
The school had a big dinner after the school year was over.  I can remember the ice cream they kept in the cellar.  Some of my older brothers and sisters, as well as nieces and nephews attended Happy Hollow school.
My sister, Shirley, remembers the fried pies Mama would put in their lunches and she would trade for some of the other kids' food.    by Margie Etter
