Vinita—Services for Mrs. S.B. (Bert) Powell,
83-year-old Vinitan who died Tuesday night in her home after
a long illness, were Thursday in the Burckhalter Memorial
chapel. Burial was in Fairview cemetery.
Mrs. Powell, born in Nebraska, took part with her husband in
the Oklahoma land rush of September 16, 1893, and
homesteaded west of Enid where they resided until moving
here in 1915.
Survivors, in addition to her husband of the home, include:
two sons, Charles C. Powell, Vinita, and Earl M. Powell, San
Diego, Calif.; one sister, Mrs. E.M. Trump, Vinita; four
grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
