Unloaded Rifle Kills State Boy

VINITA, Feb. 20—Billy Boatright, 13-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. W.B. Boatright, Bluejacket, died from a bullet wound in his side while enroute to a Vinita hospital.
Billy was shot accidentally by a friend at 4:50 p.m. Wednesday while they and two other Bluejacket youths were playing at the Glenn Holden residence at Bluejacket, County Attorney George Pitcher said.
The youth who discharged the .22 caliber single-shot rifle, Bobby Waugh, 11, was exonerated of any blame. Pitcher said Bobby, the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Waugh, told him he “didn’t know the gun was loaded.
Rites are tentatively scheduled in Bluejacket Sunday afternoon. Burial will be at Wagoner. Survivors, in addition to the parents, include one sister, Beverly Jean, of the home.
