VINITA, April 29—Services will be at 4 p.m. Sunday in the
Pilgrim Presbyterian church for Newell Ross Colby, 71,
retired Vinita businessman who died Thursday night in the
Veterans hospital, Muskogee. Burial will be in Fairview
cemetery here.
Colby, a veteran of the Spanish-American war, operated
department stores in Garber, Covington and Perry before
coming to Vinita in 1933 with his family. He operated a shoe
store here for several years.
He was a thirty-second degree Mason and a member of the
Pilgrim Presbyterian church.
He is survived by his wife, Florence; one daughter, Miss
Jane Colby, Tulsa; two sons, John, Cincinnati, and David,
Vinita; two brothers, Wilson, Altoona, Pa., and Ed,
Zanesville, Ohio; one sister, Mrs. Ada Askin, Cushing, and
four grandchildren.
