Foreman Rites Set at Vinita

 

    VINITA, April 30—Services for Miss Minta R. Foreman, 73, will be Thursday at 2:30 p.m. in the Burkhalter funeral chapel here. Miss Foreman died Tuesday in Vinita.
    She was born in Park Hill, Indian Territory, April 14, 1879, and was a retired employe of the Indian service. She has served as superintendent of the Wheelock academy, Millerton, the Carter academy, Ardmore, and the Mekusukey academy, Seminole. She served a number of years as head of the schools and as an instructor in other Indian schools.
    She was a graduate of the Cherokee Female seminary, Tahlequah, where she later served as instructor. She was closely associated in work with her father, the late Rev. Stephen Foreman, which included translation of the Bible into the Cherokee language. She retired from the Indian service in 1942 and since then had made her home with a niece, Mrs. R.V. McSpadden, near Grand lake.
    A number of nieces and nephews survive.
