PHILIP A. HORTON
 

    VINITA—Philip A. Horton, 85, a long-time Craig county resident, died Sunday afternoon in a local hospital after a short illness.
    Horton, who was known as the “Sage of Timber Hill,” was noted for operation of a large fruit orchard. Born in Tipton county, Indiana, Dec. 20, 1867, he had resided in the Timber Hill community north of Vinita , 65 years.
    Survivors include: two daughters, Mrs. Jake Snodderly, route 1, Bluejacket; and Mrs. Bill Riddle, San Francisco; two sons, Nelson and Clarence Horton, both of route 1, Bluejacket; three sisters, Mrs. Nora E. Craig and Mrs. Emma Hancock, both of Riverdale, Calif.; and Mrs. Daniel Cheek, Hollister, Calif.; 13 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
    Arrangements will be announced later by Luginbuel Brothers Funeral home.
