Orpha Parker DeMoss

Page 2. Obituary - Orpha Parker was born to James and Nevada Parker on June 22, 1880 in Richfield, Missouri. At an early age she moved with her parents to Westfield, Illinois, where she grew to womanhood. She was married to Clarence DeMoss of Taylorville, Illinois on January 7, 1900. To this union were born eleven children, two of whom died in infancy.

Soon after marriage, she and her husband moved to Southeastern Kansas, later moving to Webb, Oklahoma in Dewey County where they lived for many years. She, with her husband and family weathered many hardships of the early pioneer. Then in 1945, the family having scattered, she and her husband moved to Ellensburg, Washington where they owned and operated an apartment house. In 1948, they moved to Enumclaw, Washington where she lived until her death on March 7, 1956, at the age of 75 years, eight months and fourteen days.

Her husband preceeded her in death on September 24, 1954. She leaves to mourn her loss two sons and seven daughters: Oscar and Floyd DeMoss, Lela Epperly, Opal Epperly, and Ruth Hoyt, all residing in Enumclaw, Washington; Jessie Stanton, of Kerman, California; Erma Courtey of Webb, Oklahoma; Hazel Rambo of Durant, Oklahoma; and Naoma Teague of Oklahoma City; five brothers and two sisters; Ora Parker of Oklahoma City, Jesse, Philip Dale and Verdun Parker of Long Beach, California, Lena Flannagan of Ellensburg, Washington and Velma Graybill of Homeland, California; 30 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
