Charles Winter left Pickens County (Garvin County) in 1900 to visit his sister Elizabeth Bangle at East Oakland, Alameda County, California. Shortly after his return Charles died. Lizzie died in 1914. Both Charles and Elizabeth Winter are buried in the Winter Cemetery also known as the Sandy Bear Cemetery in Stephens County. Charles' son Clifton's and his son, Charles Thomas Winter, Choctaw allotments are located over the county line in Stephens County.

Mamie Samantha Doake is not buried in Sandy Bear. She is buried in the Blackburn Cemetery in Norman, Cleveland County, Ok. She is buried in the same line with Henry Alexander Doakes 3 children. the man who is in charge of burial records for Blackburn, sent me photos of all 4 of those graves a few months ago.  I have contacted Connie Doake to let her know about it, as she is the one who is listed as giving the info for her being in Sandy Bear, she is not on the canvess listing in blackburn, but she is there.  Margaret Wodkins
