He died early Sunday morning, June 6, 1999 at the McCaskill Nursing Home in Maysville. Mr. Stephens has been a resident of this area for many years. He was a farmer and after retirement a night watchman at the Burford Corporation. He and his wife Nell Bales, married Nov 19, 1927 at Lindsay and had lived in the Maysville area since 1946. She preceded him in death on June 3, 1990. He was a charter member of the Garvin County Farm Bureau and a member of the First Baptist Church of Maysville. Survivors include his sons: Jim Stephens of Jones, OK, and Bill Stephens of Maysville; 4 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one sister, Letha Beach of Clovis, NM; and other relatives and friends made throughout the years. The was preceded in death by two sons: Donnie in 1958 and a baby at birth; and a grandchild, Robin Stephens. Funeral services were scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 8, 1999 at the Winans Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jim Paslay officiating. Interment was in Green Hill under the direction of John Williams of Winans Funeral Home in Maysville. Jewell Klingsmith Hickman, 94, of Paoli passed away Monday, June 7, 1999 at the Pauls Valley Health Care facility in Pauls Valley. She was born Feb 8, 1905 in Pauls Valley, OK, Indian Territory, to John and Mary Alice (White) Kennedy. Jewell moved to Paoli with her parents at 10 years of age. Jewell was a 1925 graduate from Paoli High School. She married Noah Klinglesmith of Paoli at an early age and continued her education at college earning a degree in education. They were blessed with two sons. Her teaching career began in rural Garvin County schools teaching from 1924 until her retirement in 1946. In 1946, she was employed by the Garvin County Welfare Department as a social worker and retired from there in 1970. Noah Klinglesmith preceded her in death on Sept 30, 1956. In January 1964, she and Roy L. Cherry of Paoli were married. He preceded her in death in May 1975. In July 1982, she was married to A.W. Hickman of Paoli. He preceded her in death in April 1985. Jewell was a member of Paoli United Methodist Church since 1922 and has been very active until her health began to fail her. Jewell enjoyed teaching, working with the 4-H, and giving of what she had to her many friends through her contacts in her profession throughout the country; many of whom she has kept in contact with all these many years. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands; one brother, Jess Kennedy; and five sisters; Clates VanNess, Myrtle Ivy, Inez Cole, Dixie Gosnell, and Bernice Gaisford. The family has reguested that in liew of flowers, memorials be sent to the Building Fund at the Paoli United Methodist Church at P.O. Box 31 in Paoli, OK 73074. She is survived by two sons; John Bruce Klinglesmith of Pauls Valley, and Jerry Don Klinglesmith of Edmond; one sister, Ruth McMillen of Meeker; six grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren. She was born March 4, 1928 in Anadarko, OK to Cale and LaRue (Calvert) Barnes. She had lived in this area most of her life. June was a bank teller at Pauls Valley National Bank for 25 years before she retired in 1990. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Frank Lam, and one brother, Mel Barnes. She is survived by one son, Gary Lam of Pauls Valley; one grandson; five nieces and nephews; and several great nieces and great nephews. Sidney "Boots" Harrell Sidney "Boots" Harrell, 81, of Moore, OK was born on Aug 18, 1917 to Sidney Grady and Cynthia Mae Trout Harrell in Ardmore, OK. He passed away Monday, June 7, 1999 in Oklahoma city. Sidney grew up and graduated from school in Ardmore. After graduating, "Boots" attended Oklahoma A&M in Stillwater, OK and Southeastern State College in Durant, OK. He then served his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He worked servicing and repairing radios for a number of years before going to work in commercial sales in refrigeration. "Boots" retired in 1995. On Jan 9, 1966, Sid married Vera Mae Burcham in Davis, OK. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, and geneology research on his computer. Sidney is survived by his wife,, Vera of the home; one son, Don Graves of Norman, OK; seven Daughters; Barbars Major of Oklahoma City, OK, Patsy Shuler of Seattle, Washington, Betty McGuckin of Springfield, Ore., Carol Gore of Moore, OK, and Donna Stubblefield of Wynnewood, OK; one brother, John Harrell of Ardmore; one sister, Theda Cunningham of Tulsa, Ok; and a host of grandchildren and great grantchildren. Mr. Harrell was preceded in death by his parents, and four sons; Michael Harrell and Pete, Dewayne, and Ray Graves. Interment will be in the Elmore City Cemetery under the direction of Wooster Funeral Home. L.B. 'Smokey' Fowler Smokey Fowler, 64, was born May 11, 1935 at Dell, Ark, to W.O. and Edith Grand Fowler. He died Sunday, June 13, 1999 at Ada Regional Hospital. Smokey Fowler has lived in a number of places during his lifetime, most of them in Oklahoma. His dad was a tenant farmer and moved considerably. Smokey married Shirley Severs on June 24, 1957 at Pauls Valley. They have lived at Sasakwa for the last 30 years. Smokey was a farmer, oilfield hand, and a road grader operator for Seminole County. He was a Baptist by faith and a devoted husband, father and grandfather. Survivors include his wife, Shirley of the home; three sons; Rodney Fowler of Paden, Okla., gene Lovelace of Norman, Okla., and Lee Wayne Fowler of Sasakwa; five brothers; Hershel Fowler of Elmore City, Okla., R.V. Fowler of St. Louis, Okla., Jack Fowler of Merced, Calif., Jim Fowler, of Chickasaw, Okla., and Benny Fowler of Sasakwa; two sisters; Ellen McCray of Pink, Okla., an Rosie Erdman of Sahuarita, Ariz, nine grandchildren; and a great number of other relatives and friends made throughout the years. He is preceded in death by his parents; a son, Tim Lovelace; and one sister and three brothers. Charles Troglin will officate. Berth Mae Burleson Wood Bertha Mae Burleson Wood, 87, Durant, was born July 1, 1911 in Eakly, Okla. to Joe G. and Julie Burleson. She passed away Monday, June 21, 1999. She moved to Corley in 1915, then Stratford and then to McGee. She married Euel Francis Wood at Stratford on Jan 25, 1930. She was a member of the Freewill Baptist Church. She was a housewife. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1979; one daughter, Clara Jo Bailey; and two sons, Glen D. Wood and Carlos D. Wood. Vaughn, 87, Lindsay, passed away Sunday, June 20, 1999 in Lindsay, Okla. She was born April 15, 1912 to Frank Schrader and Edna Conn Schrader in Asher, Okla. Ruth married Grady Vaughn on Sept 21, 1929 and lived and farmed in the Woody Chapel area for 40 years. She was a member of the Pentecostal Holiness Church. She was an avid fisherman. She and her husband were self-employed dairy farmers. Survivors include her husband, Grady Carson Vaughn, of Lindsay; one daughter, Sue Vaughn Ramos; 11 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; and 9 great great grandchildren. she was preceded in death by three children; Donald Vaughn, Glinda Wade, and Frankie Vaughn; both parents; three brothers; Carl, Elmer, and Homer Schrader; and two sisters; Fern Langford and Ethel Wilson. Jessie Lee Wood Jessie "Jess" Lee Wood, 88, Stratford, was born Jan 9, 1911 in McGee, Okla. to Dora and Charlie Wood. He Passed away Saturday June 19, 1999 in Ada, Okla. He was married to Freda Southard in Stratford on Sept 7, 1934. He was a farmer, rancher, and Garvin County hand for 13 years. He spent all of his life in the Stratford area. He was a member of the First Baptist Church and the Stratford Masonic Lodge. He also served on the Stratford and old McGre school boards for a total of 11 years. He was preceded in death by three sisters; Bessie, Dorothy, and Evelyn; and one brother, Jack. Services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 22 at the Pickard Funeral Home Chapel, officiated by Rev. Eveylene Muse Phillips Eveylene Muse Phillips, 60, Stratford, was born Dec 29, 1938 in Stratford Okla. to Dessie and Ester Millsap. She passed away Friday, June 18, 1999 in Ada, Okla. She was married to Robert Philllips at Hot Springs Ark., in February 1999. She was a business lady and a peach farmer. She lived all of her life in the Stratford area. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Stratford and the Stratford Chamber of Commerce. She was preceded in death by her parents; and husband, Herbert Muse in 1997. Reneau Beatrice D. Reneau, 84, Lindsay, passed away Thursday, June 10, 1999 at Norman Regional Hospital. She was born Oct 24, 1914 in Alex, Okla. to Thomas A. and Ola Dennis. Beatrice was a music teacher, retail shop owner, and private piano teacher. She loved music, flowers, and gardening. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Lindsay, the Philharmonic Music Club, Who's Who of America and Music Teachers of America. She was a graduate of Oklahoma College for Women and studied at Oklahoma University and Juilliard School of Music. She is survived by her husband, Wallace L. Reneau of the home. The were married on Aug 9, 1942 in Chickasa, Okla. She was preceded in death by both parents. He was born Oct 28, 1939 in Anton, Texas to W.J. and Dema Kesey Loman. He spent most of his early years in Garvin County before moving to west Texas and farming for several years. He moved back to Pauls Valley in 1964 and was in the wholesale oil and gas business. Mr. Loman was a 1st lieutenant with the Oklahoma Highway Patrol for 26 years and retired in November 1996. He and Linda Gann wre married on May 20, 1983 in Chickasha, Okla. and have lived in Norman since February 1988. He was preceded in death by his mother, Dema Christeen Loman, on Aug 17, 1996. He is survived by his wife, Linda Loman of the home in Norman; one daughter, Jennifer Blagg of Simpsonville, S.C.; one son, David W. Loman of Moore; one brother, Wayne Loman of Pauls Valley; his father, W.J. Loman of Pauls Valley; and 3 grandchildren. Elzie Lee Russell Elzie Lee Russell, 65, Stratford, was born Sept 3, 1933 in Stratford, Okla. to Jess and Shirley Jones Russell. He passed away Friday, June 11, 1999 at his residence in Stratford. He was married to Wanda Darlene Dail in Stratford on March 18, 1961. He was a cattle rancher and house painter. He lived in Stratford all of his life. Earl 'Red' Simonton Earl "Red" Simonton, 73, a resident of Lindsay since 1962, passed away in his home on Wednesday, June 9, 1999. He was born in Papoose, Okla. on Dec 29, 1925 to Earl LeClair Simonton, Sr., and Mary Elizabeth (Edmundson) Simonton. Red moved to Lindsay, Okla. from Mosherville, Michigan and started his career as fishing tool operator with Atlas Fishing Tool Company. In 1966 he joined B & B Tool Company working more than 25 years and retired from Weatherford, Inc. in 1995. He served in the U.S. Navy as Gunner's Mate Third Class from 1943 to 1946. He received an American Campaign Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Medal, and the World War II Victory Medal. On March 10, 1948 he was married to Barbara Ann Boyd in Rawlins, Wyoming. He is survived by Barabara of the home; three sons; Danny Simonton, Bobby Simonton of Lindsay, and Steve Simonton of Tulsa; seven grandchildren; one great grandchild; and brothers and sisters; Betty Brady, Richard Simonton, Paul Simonton, and Robert Simonton. She was born Nov 21, 1915 in Pauls Valley to John Franklin and Ellen Emma Burrows Pruitt. Lily was a nurse and worked many years in the hospitals of Pauls Valley as well as the Pauls Valley State School. She was a member of the Baptist Church. Pauls Valley has been her home most of her life but the past several months were spent in Bethany due to failing health. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Irvin D. Coffey on Aug 29, 1983; four brothers and two sisters. She is survived by three sons; John McKinley of Lawton, Okla., Earl Coffey of Yukon, Okla., and Robert Coffey of Tulsa, Okla.; eight grandsons and two great grandchildren. Mr. Prather died June 19, 1999 in Texas. He was born March 5, 1945 in Stratford to Tom and Bertha Prather. At the age of 10, he made his mone with his sister in Wynnewood and graduated from Wynnewood High School. He joined the United States Army after graduation and became a Green Beret. He served his country for 21 years, retiring as a master sergeant. He was employed by the United States Postal Service in Oklahoma City and was later transferred to Wynnewood and was a postal carrier there for the past 14 years. He is servived by his wife Sandy Peters Prather, of the home in Wynnewood; a daughter, Denise Wheeler, Mustang; a son, Dennie Scott Prather, Bridge Creek; two step-children, Billy Hall Jr., and Melody Wilhoit; two grandchildren; six step- grandchildren; a sister, Imogene Stufflebean, Wynnewood; four brothers, Jim Prather, Tuttle, Raymond Prather, Fredrick, Ray Dean Prather, Maysville, and Terry Prather, Liberal Kan. Marjorie Stalcup Dennis of Pauls Valley passed away Friday June 18, 1999 at Pauls Valley General Hospital in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma at the age of 78. She was born June 9, 9121 in Paoli to W.R. 'Jack' and Beaulah Pendley Stalcup. She worked as an attendant at the Pauls Valley State School for several years. Marjorie was a member of the Paul and Pine Church of Christ. With the exception of a very few years, the Pauls Valley has been her home all of her life. She was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers; F.L. Stalcup of Paoli, and Dude Stalcup of Pauls Valley. She is survived by two daughters; Joyce Russell and her husband Gaylon of Duncan, Okla., and Linda Moore and her hudband Rip of Pauls Valley, Okla.; one brother, Timothy Stalcup of Pauls Valley, Okla.; one sister, Edith Price of Broken Bow, Okla.; five grand children; Brent Russell of Duncan, Okla., Brad Russell of Kingwood, Texas, Brian Russell of Guilford, Connecticut, Clint Moore of San Diego, California, and Kirk Moore of Pauls Valley, Okla.; 10 great grandchildren and a host ofnieces and nephews. Zita Johannesen Graveside servicesfor Zita Ruth Johannesen, 89, Wynnewood, were held at 10 a.m. June 22, 1999, at the Oaklawn Cemetery in Wynnewood with Brother Larry Gaston officating. Services were under the direction of De Arman Funeral Home. Mrs. Johannesen died June 20, 1999, in Wynnewood. she was born June 26, 1909, in Thackerville to Joseph and Leila Hudson. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Wynnewood and had lived most of her life in Wynnewood, She married John E.Johannesen Sept 24, 1976. She was active in her community, as a Red Cross Volunteer, a founding member of the Wynnewood Beta Sigma Phi Chapter, a member of the Wynnewood Sewing Club and a member and past president of the Wynnewood Chamber of Commerce. In the early 1950's, she worked for the Garvin County Commissioners and for Emmett Wilson at the State Bank of Wynnewood. Later, she opened her owm Income Tax Service and in 1969, obtained her real estate broker's license. In 1970, she was joined by her daughter, Sandy, and her son-in-law Glendol Garrett, in the real estate business. She retired in 1976 to Falconhead Gold and Country Club located in Burneyville. She is survived by her daughter, Sandy Garrett, and her husband, Glendol of Wynnewood, and her two grandchildren, Amy L Garrett-Turner and Kelly D. Garrett. Florence Mae Hasty Potts Services for Florence Mae Hasty Potts, 100, Wynnewood, are set for 2 p.m. Thursday, June 24, 1999, at De Arman Funeral Home in Wynnewood, Mike Hancock of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints officiating. Mrs. Potts died June 20, 1999. She was born Aug 19, 1898, to William Levie and Ella Burnett Hasty in Camden County, Mo. She and her family moved to Texas when she was very young by covered wagon. From Texas, the family moved ot Oklahoma and then on to California. After several years there she returned to Oklahoma and lived several years in Edmond, then returned to Texas where she lived for many years in Farmers Branch and Heritage Gardens Nursing Home in Carrollton, Texas. Leeta Mae Elliott Leeta Mae Elliott, 80, Wynnewood, was born June 14, 1919 in Pauls Valley to James and Mary Lou Tompkins. She passed away MOnday, June 14, 1999 at St. Anthony's Hospital. She was member of the First Baptist Church of Wynnewood. She married R.C. Elliot on Sept 13, 1942. She lived in Wynnewood most of her life. She was very active in her community and held a variety of jobs. She worked at Tinker Air Force Base during World War II, then she and her hudband owned and operated a laundromat in Wunnewood. She also worked several years as a beautician. Mrs. Elliott retired from the Pauls Valley State School after many years of service. She worked for the nutrition program in Wynnewood. Some of her hobbies were fishing, cooking for the family, and spending time with friends. She is survived by three children: Jimmie Lou Gallion and Danny Ray Elliott, both of Wynnewood, and Robbie Elliot of Ada: 10 grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. She was married to Milton White at Stratford on July 12, 1933. she was a sales lady for Watkins Products and spent all of her life in the Stratford/Corley area. Mable Ham Nellie Mable Ham, 89, Pauls Valley, was born Sept 5, 1910 in Missouri. She passed away Saturday, June 12, 1999 in Oklahoma City. Mabel was devoted to her family, friends, and her church. She was a faithful member of Trinity Baptist Church for over 30 years. On Sept 17, 1927 she married Jake Ham. They were married for over 64 years. He preceded her in death in 1991. Mabel and Jake came to Wynnewood in 1946, then moved to Pauls Valley in 1949 where she lived until the time of her death. Mrs. Ham is survived by her son, Frank Ham of Wynnewood; three daughers; Jean Grace of Shawnee, Wanda Manatowa of Sulphur, and Peffy Ham of Shawnee; nine grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Sally Seaton Sally Seaton, 75, Midwest City, died Wednesday, June 16, 1999. She was born Sept 6, 1923 in Paoli, Okla., to Roy Lee and Velma Ann Richardson Cherry. She taught third grade in the public school system at Sooner-Rose Elementary from 1962 until her retirement in 1981. She was a founding member of the First Church of God in Moore where she served as chairman of the Board of Christian Education and Missions Board. She loved to study and teach the Bible. Sally's commitment to children influenced hundreds in a career that spanned 33 years of teaching. Kirkland, 95, Lexington, passed away Wednesday, June 16, 1999 at Norman Regional Hospital. She was born Dec 13, 1903 in Clarksville, Texas to William Thomas Payne and Sallie Milford. She moved to Oklahoma in 1906 at the age of 3. She grew up in the Rosedale community and graduated from Rosedale High School. She then attended East Central University in Ada and graduated with a teaching degree. She married Hugh W. Kirkland on March 6, 1931. They remained in the McClain and Garvin County area where she taught elementary school for a number of years. She lived in Norman for several years and in Pauls Valley for 25 eyars before entering the Lexington Nursing Home in 1996. She was preceded in death by her parents, W.T. and Sallie Payne; husband, Hugh on JUne 3, 1975; two sisters, Pearl Pirtle and Seslie Davis; and a nephew, Glen Dell Pirtle. She is survived by two nieces; Virginia Leslie of Greenville, Texas, and Samalee Rice of Granbury, Texas; and several nieces and nephews on her husband's side of the family. Doris L Barry Doris LaVerne Barry, 73, was born near Clinton, Okla., on Nov 6, 1925 to Edwin and Della Roark, and passed away Saturday, Sept 25, 199 at Pauls Valley General Hospital. Dorris graduated from high school at Paoli in 1944. she later married Louis Barry. They made their home in serveral different states while Louis was serving in the military. The came to Wynnewood in 1974 after his retirement. She has made her home here since that time. Louis Barry preceded her in death in 1981. Doris was a person who enjoyed helping others and her enjoyment came when she could shar her beautiful knitted and crocheted items she had made with her friends. She was a loving mother and a member of the Wynnewood Church of Christ. She is survived by two sons; Clifton Barry of Searcy, Ark., and Randall barry of Antioch, Tenn.; two daughters; Joanie Townsend and Jennifer Barry, both of Wynnewood; two brothers; Edwin Roark of Wynnewood, and Claud Roark of Vernon, Texas; and one sister; Helen Lack of Clinton. Carrie Dean Thompson Carrie Thompson, 92, was born Jan 31, 1907 near Antioch, Indian Territory to Mr & Mrs. Joe Dean. She passed away Friday, Sept 24, 1999 at Purcell. Carrie attended school at Antioch where she played girl's basketball for three years. She was married June 30, 1925 to Clifford Gregg. To this union was born two sons, Burrell, who died at age two, and Kenneth Ray who died at age 52. IN 1936 she moved to Pixley, Calif., with her husband and yound son, where she lived for 14 years. Like many Okies who moved to California during the dust bowl years, she picked cotton, grapes, and other crops and worked in canneries and the olive plant in Visalia, California to help support the family. After her divorce she married Jim Thompson and together they moved to Las Vegas, Nevada where they owned and operated an electrical repair shop. She worked alongside Jim as an electrical mechanic until they moved to Nebraska where she owned and managed a laundry. They retired in 1971 to Maysville where they bought a house at 713 W. 4th Street. Mr. Thompson passed away Nov 26, 1981. As a young girl in the early 1920s Carrie started writing a newspaper column about the events in and around Antioch. After she returned to Maysville in the 1970s she resumed writing this column for the Maysville community. Carrie was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Maysville until her health failed. She was active in the Fidelis Sunday School Class, the Golden Tones Ladies' singing group, and performed many other charitable activities for the community. Carrie is survived by two grandsons, one granddaughter, four great grandchcildren, two nephews, three nieces, and other family members and friends. Frantz, 78, of Wynnewood, was born on March 24, 1921 ot Charles H. and Clara Marie Arnold Frantz in Cashion, Okla., and passed away on Thursday, July 22, 199 at Norman Regional Hospital in Norman. Charles grew up and attended school in the Oklahoma City area. He married Jelen Marie Wilson on Dec 30, 1939 in Stroud, Okla. Charles then served his county during World Warr II and was stationed in the Phillippines and Korea. After World War II, Charles and Helen lived in Stoud before moving to Wynnewood in 1957. He worked for Kerr McGee from 1957 -1985 and served as a consultant for several years after retirement. Charles was a charter member of the Pauls Valley Gun Club. He enjoyed flying and was a member of the Experimental Aircraft Association and the Antique Aircraft Association. Charles is survived by his wife, Helen of the home; one son, Doug Frantz of Mustang, Okla.; two daughters; Paulette Crouse of Blanchard, Okla., and Ann Cox of Oklahoma City; three brothers; Louis Ray Frantz of Pinole, Calif., Paul Frantz of Bethany, Okla., and Bobby Frantz of Oakland, Calif.; five grandchildren and one great grandchild. Eula Elizabeth Lollar Eula Elizabeth Lollar, 93, Pauls Valley, passed away Tuesday, July 6, 1999 in Lampasas, Texas. The oldest of eight chldren, she was born April 9, 1906 in Mannsville, Indian Territory to Richard Andersosn Taylor and Lucy Davenport Taylor. It was in 1914 that she moved to Wayne, Okla.with her parents. She graduated from Wayne High School in 1924 and married Omer D Lollar later that sumer on Aug 15 in Wayne. She worked many years as a practical nurse at McCurdy Memorial Hospital in Purcell and 47 years as a substitute mail carrier for her husband in Wayne. In 1982, she and Omer moved to Pauls Valley to be close to their daughter, Carolyn. She was a longtime member of the Wayne Church of Christ, and while living in Pauls Valley she attended the Paul and Pine Church of Christ. Eual enjoyed gardening and was a 50 year member of the Wayne Garden Club. She also enjoyed China painting and was a longtime member of the Purcell Painting Club. She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, greatgrandmother, sister and friend. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Omer D. Lollar in July 1983; son, Owen Dale Lollar; grandson, Peter Lollar; three brothers; and one sister. She passed away Monday morning July 12, 1999 at her home in Maysville after a lengthy illness. Mrs. Stratton lived in Pauls Valley until 1979 when she met her husband, Jerry Straton, and moved to Maysville where she made her home for the past 20 years. IN 1969 he went to work for Texas Instruments and became the superitendent for production of semi-conductors. On Sept 14, 1974, he married Jean Schultze in Dallas, Texas. In Feb of 1992 he took a medical retirement. He was a member of the Diabetes Association, AARP, Collin County Dialysis Patient and a member of the Plano (parents) FFA. He is survived by his wife, Jean, of the home; four daughters, Robin Stavinola of Kyle, Texas, Christie Trowbridge of Austin, Texas, Terrie Buschman of Oklahoma City, Okla., and Cheryl Roady of Plano, Texas; his parents, Rosalyn and Eddie Brooks of Elmore City; three brothers, Jerry Roady of Pryor, Eddie Brooks of Rusk, Texas, and Shelby Brooks of Moore; a sister, Marilyn Jones of Oklahoma City and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, Jim Delbert Roady, in 1969 and his brother Jim. L. Roady in 1993. Justice Alma Wilson Former Supreme Court Chief Justice Alam Wilson passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 17, 1999 at her Oklahoma City home after a brief illness. She was surrounded by her family and a few close friends. She died as she lived; in her own unique manner. Appointed in 1982 by then Governor George Nigh, Justice Wilson became the first female Oklahoma Court Justice and later amde history again by becoming the first female Chief Justice for the 1995-1996 term. Justice Wilson was born in Pauls Valley. She was valedictorian of her graduating class at Pauls Valley High School. After attending Oklahoma City University, she received her B.A., L.L.B., and J.D. degrees from the University of Oklahoma. She practiced law in Oklahoma City and Pauls Valley for 25 years and also served as Pauls Valley's municipal judge. In 1969 she was appointed as special district judge sitting in Garvin and McClain counties. IN 1975 she was appointed district judge in Cleveland County and as a member of the Court of Tax Review. Among her numerous awards and honors are: 1996 Oklahoma Hall of Fame Award from the Oklahoma Heritage Association; 1974 Guy Brown Award for Outstanding OU alumni; 1983 Oklahoma Women's Advisory Committee on the Status of Women; life membeo of the Oklahoma Chapter of 99's Inc. Also, 1975 University of Oklahoma Hall of Fame; 1982 News Maker Award, Women in Communicatio, Tulsa and honoree in Oklahoma City; 1985 Pioneer Woman Award; 1985 Distinguished Service Citation, University of Oklahoma; 1986 and 1989 Appellate Judge of the Year; 1994 Woman of the Year Award, Downtown Business and Professional Woman; and Phi Beta Kappa 1982 alumni member. She was highly respected as a jurist and deeply loved as a friend to many, from her hometown of Pauls Valley to Washington, D.C.. Alma was married for 46 years to Bill Wilson, deceased, a well known and respected longtime Pauls Valley Attorney. She is survived by her daughter, Lee Anne Wilson, an Oklahoma City Attorney; her four grandcats; her twin sister, Wilma Stufflebean; one nephew, Michael Stufflebean of Edmond; two nieces, Brenda Hunt of Pauls Valley and Pat Runyon of Boulder, Colorado; nine great nieces and nephews, plus many extended family members. During her time on the bench Justice Wilson considered thousands of cases, many of which involved significant public issues, but no issue was more important ot her than the lives of children. Zettie Fay Blackwood Zettie Fay Blackwood, 82, of Elmore City, was born April 23, 1917 in the Love Community to Ernest Calep and Loetta Stallings Fuller, and passed away Tuesday, July 27, 1999 in Norman, Okla.. Mrs. Blackwood grew up and attended school at Pauls Valley, Antioch and Elmore City. On Dec 6, 1937, she married Bill Blackwood Sr. in Pauls Valley. Mrs. Blackwood enjoyed sewing, quilting, and cooking. She was a lifetime resident of Garvin County. The highlight of her life was her family. Pauline lived in the Lindsay-Maysville area until 1945, then in Oklahoma City, moving back to Maysville in the late 1960s. She was a member of the Church of Christ. Pauline was preceded in death by her husband, Roy "Boss" Winford in February, 1996. They were united in marriage on Sept 22, 1934. Mildred Maybelle Crawford Mildred Maybelle Clowdus Crawford passed away Teusday, June 29, 1999 in Arlington, Texas from cancer related illnesses. She was born May 20, 1920 in Wilson, Okla., where she went to school and resided until her marriage to Jack Crawford on June 22, 1938. Jack and Mildred enjoyed 59 years of marriage before he preceded her in death on April 19, 1998. Mildred lived the majority of her life in Lindsay, Okla., but she also lived in Illinois, Oklahoma, Nebraska, Utah, Texas, and other Oklahoma towns through the years as she helped Jack in his oil field and ranching careers. Mildred's interests included all types of card and domino games, bowling, camping, woodworking (especially cabinet making) and needlework. Her plastic canvass creations are in many homes in Oklahoma and Texas. Mildred also did volunteer work at the Lindsay Hospital for many years. Family was especially important to Mildred and she spent the majority of her life being with her childred, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Besided her husband, Mildred was preceded in death by her father, James Clowdus; mohter, Essie Milun Clowdus; brother, Gene Clowdus; sister, Frankie Conner; and daughter, Pattye Wagstaff. She is survived by her son, Mike Crawford of Arlington; five grandchildren; eight great- grandchildren; and brothers; Ralph Clowdus of Brookings, Ors., and Kenneth Clowdus of California. Robert Junior Vestle Robert Junior Vestle, 63, was born Jan 29, 1936 at Hartshorne, Okla., to Joseph Oscar and Doley South Vestle. He died Monday, May 31, 1999 at Norman Regional Hospital. Robert Westle has been a resident of this area since 1944. He married Anna Belle Bone of Paoli in Maysville on Jan 29, 1954. Robert was an expert brick mason, worked for the Ledgerwood family farms for years and a 37 year minister of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. He was the pastor of teh Eastside Holiness Church of Maysville. He is well respected in the community for his work ethic and integrity. He was a devoted husband, father, and grand father. Dorothy Bess Hudson Dorthy B. Hudson was born on Sept 22, 1910 in Hereford, Texas to Jarrot and Effie A. Harris and passed away on Wednesday, July 7, 1999 at Pauls Valley General Hospital at the age of 88 years. Dorothy is survived by one sone, Lanson James Hudson and his wife Donna Jo, of Fairborn, Ohio; one daughter, Jane Lynn Riedl and her husband, Nathan Eugene Riedl, of Pauls Valley; three grandchildren; Heather Aimelle McMurry and her husband,Donald Richard of Chattanooga, Tennessee, Matthew Lanson Hudson and his wife, Emily, of Birminghan, Alabama, and Timothy Ryan Hudson of Fairborn, Ohio; and one great-grandson, Donald Richare McMurry III of Chattanooga, Tennessee. Dorothy was preced in death by her husband, Dr. T.A. Hudson. Dorothy married Trueman Aldine Hudson on Dec 23, 1933 at Herman, Missours. A graduate of East Central University with a Master's degree in Education, she was a school teacher of 27 years and taught at several schools, including Davis, Tishomingo, Ravia, Harrah, and Newkirk, on both the elementary and secondary levels. Dorothy was a member of the O.E.A. and a Girl Scout and Cub Scout leader. During her years of service in the church, she was a Sunday school teacher, worked with youth groups, Bible School, choir and Christian women's groups. Dorothy was an active member of the First Christian Church, First nited Methodist Church, and the First Baptist Church. Dorothy enjoyed gardening, church work, and music. The highlights of her life were when her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were born and having all the family together. She set an example to others through her faithfulness to the lord and dedication to her family. He passed away July 6, 1999 in Pauls Valley, Okla. Fernando graduated from high school in El Paso, Texas. He enjoyed fishing, arts and crafts, games, and going to flea markets. Fernando loved helping others, especially his parents. He spent what he had on others and was a very sharing person. The highlights of his life were his nieces and nephews. Tylar Laken Thomas Tylar Laken Thomas, Infant Daughter of Brandon Gene and Becky Jean Thomas, was born in Norman Regional Hosptial in Norman, Okla., on Sunday May 23, 1999 and also passed away on the same day. Ron Burks Ron Burks, 59, Pauls Valley, was born on Aug 28, 1939 in Hereford, Texas to Emery and Helen Griggs Burks. He passed away on Sunday July 25, 1999 in Pauls Valley. Ron is survived by his wife, Nancy Burks of Pauls Valley; one son, Kevin Burks of Amarillo, Texas; one daughter, Amy Edwards of Oklahoma City; on grandchild; two brothers; Bill Burks and Scott Burks, both of Texas; and one sister, Trudy Coleman of Burleson, Texas. Prudye, 19, of Paoli, passed away Saturday, July 24, 1999 at Norman REgional Hospital. She was born Nov 6, 1907 in Graham, Texas to John H. and Elzada (Frizzell) Colley. She was raised in Maysville and graducated from high school there in 1925. After graducation she attended college and became a school teacher. On June 9, 1934, Prudye O. Colley and Fred C. Randolph were married in Moore, Okla. They were blessed with four children. Prudye taught school in Garvin County for weveral years in Paoli, Union Springs, Foster, and Moore Randolph. She was a member of Paoli United Mehtodist Church. The Paoli area has been her home since 1947. She was preceded in death by her paretns; husband, Fred C. Randolph on Dec 21, 1996; one son, Freddie Randolph: and one granddaughter, Charoltte Denten. She is survived by her children; Donna s. Randolph James of Albuquerque, NM, Bette Roberts of Norman, Okla., and James C. Randolph of Oklahoma City; one daughter-in-law; two sisters-in-law; one brother, Oman Ledgerwood of Edmond, Okla.; nine grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren. Audrey A. Sparks Audrey Sparks, 92, of Elmoe City was born Jan 15, 1907 in Elmore City, Okla. to C.F. and Ollie Knight Kennedy,and passed away Saturday,July 24, 1999 in Bethany, OKla. Audrey grew up and graducated high school in Elmore C ity. She then attended the Oklahoma College for Women. After graduating she returned to Garvin County where she taught and coached girls basketball in Foster and Elmore City. On April 23, 1932, she married Lee Sparks in Sulphur, Okla. Audrey was very instrumental in organizing the Elmore City Senior Citizen's Building. She loved to fish and bowl and had many trophies. In later life she owned and operated a dry goods store in Elmore City. The highlight of her life war her church and her family. Mrs. Sparks is survived by her two sons, Bob Sparks of Great Bend, KS, and Jim Sparks of Piedmont, Okla.; two brothers, Lynn Kennedy and Burl Kennedy, both of Elmore City; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Audrey was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one sister, Ruby Kennedy; and two brothers, Clyde and Curtis Kennedy. Clifford White Clifford Archie White of Pauls Valley was born April 26, 1935 to Archie and Hazel May Jensen White in Pauls Valley, and passed away Saturday, July 24, 1999 at his residence in Pauls Valley. Clifford is survived by three sons; Chris White of Howe, Texas, Randy White of Alex, Okla., and Clifford Dean White of Pauls Valley; eight grandchildren; five brothers; Ed White and Tony White, both of Pauls Valley, Robert White of Mims, Florida, and Alfred White and Doyle White, both of Maysville, Okla.; and one sister, I Irene McClish of Maysville. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Kathlina Marie; one granddaughter, Tyler White; parents, Archie and Hazel White; two brothers, Leroy and Harold White; and one sister, Darlene Bray. Clifford was a longtime resident of the Lindsay-Pauls Valley area. He worked for Ingersol Rand and the City of Lindsay later retiring due to his health. Clifford loved his children and grandchildren. Corene "Jackie" Ficklin Corene "Jackie" Ficklin was born in Wynnewood on July 20, 1930 to Bailey and Verda Shipley Blankenship, and passed away on Saturday, July 24, 1999 at Pauls Valley General Hosptial. Mrs. Ficklin was a longtime resident of the Wynnewood ares. She worked for several years at Fields Restaurant in Pauls Valley and retired from the Pauls Valley State School in 1992 after 14 years of service. In 1983 she married Woody Ficklin. She was a devoted wife and mother. Her children, grandchildren and other family members were the joy of her life. Her hobby was making quilts. She never judged any one and always saw the good in everyone. Mrs. Ficklin is survived by her judband, Wood Ficklin, of the home in Wynnewood; three daughters; Carolyn Owens of Elmore City, Barbara King of Antlers, Okla., and Roberts Spain of Okemah, Okla.; 13 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; two brothers; Samuel Blankenship of Pauls Valley and Ralph Blankenship of Wynnewood; and two sisters; Lorene Anderson and Mary Jarrell, both of Wynnewood, She was preceded in death by her parents and on brother, Jack Benny Blankenship. Danny Howard Molander Danny Howard Molander departed this life peacefully the afternoon of September 23, 1999, with his family at his side, after a courageous battle with Primary Grain Tumor. He was a devoted husband, loving father, a supportive son, a caring brother, a loyal and sensitive friend, and a man committed to Christian ideals. He was born December 22, 1948 in Seminole, Oklahomt to Howard Clayton and Ida Mae Molander. Danny graduated from Elmore City High School and attended East Central University in Ada prior to entering th United States Air Force during the Vietnam Era. Danny married Deborah Jean Paine on September 25, 1971 in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma. After leaving the Air Force, Danny attended Central State University in Edmond, majoring in business, prior to being employed by Mobil Oil Corporation. Danany devoted his energies to his family. He was a member of the Elks Lodge in Pauls Valley, and a charter member of the Lions Club. In 1981, Danny and Debby moved to Duncan, Oklahoma, where he was employed with Mobil Oil Company. He was preceded in death by his father, Howard Clayton Molander and his nephew, Jeromy Lawrence Pain. Danny will be remembered as a loving, giving, and generous person by his son, Christopher and wife Deborah, both of the home. Survivors include his mother, Ida Molander of Oklahoma City, one brother, Mike Molander of Oklahoma City; two sisters, Sherryl Fellers of Oklahoma City, and Jenny Robertson of Marietta, Oklahoma. Leta Mildred Stephens Leta Mildred Stephens, 80, passed away in Oklahoma City on Thursday, Sept 23, 1999. She was born in Healdton, Okla., on Aug 8, 1919 to Benjamin Dent Jones and Stella Winn Jones. Leta was an active member of the community. She had a B.A. in education and started her teaching career at Burris High School and then later taught at Lindsay in the Lindsay Elementary School for 20 uears. Shw was also a beauty consultant for Luzier Company for 40 years. Leta was a member of the United Methodist Church in Lindsay, National Education Association, Oklahoma Education Association, and the Bridge Club. Some of her favorite activities included bridge, golf, travel, crossword puzzles, bowling, and gardening. Leta is survived by her husband, W.D. Stephens of the home; three sons, Robert Gary Stephens, David Russell Stephens, and Joe Brent Stephens, all of Houston, Texas; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and four sisters and one brother; Roena Elaine Owen, Joy Hyacinth Crelia, Wanda Lee Jessie Simmons, Patsy C. Stanfill, and Ben D. Jones. She was preceded in death by both parents, and two brothers and one sister; Curtis Clifton Jones, William Reece Jones, and Freda Belle Thomas. Toby Loren Boydston Toby Loren Boydston, 37, a lifetime resident of Lindsay, Okla., passed away on Thursday, Sept 23, 1999, in Norman, Oklahoma. He was born on Aug 23, 1962 in Chickasha, Okla. to Bob and Mary Brown Boydston. Toby was a graduate of Lindsay High School in 1980. He attended college at the U.S. Air Force Academy, Hayes State College in Hayes, Kansas, the University of Oklahoma, and the University of Central Oklahoma at Edmond. He received a B.A. in funeral service and worked as a funeral director in the family business and with Vondel Smith Funeral Service in Oklahoma City. He was also an insurance agent with Shelter Insurance Companies with an office in the Tri-City area. Toby was a member of the United Methodist Church in Lindsay. He was active in sports both in high school and in college. He is survived by two children; Joshua Boydston and Kaitlin Boydston of Lindsay, and their mother, Angela Anderson; both parents, Bob and Mary Boydston; two brothers; Bobby Boydston of Lindsay, and Brent Boydston of Durant, Oklahoma; one grandmother, Ethel Brown; and other relatives and friends. She was born in Pauls Valley on April 14, 1939 to William Franklin and Beulah Ledford Riddle. Mrs. Clayton attended school in Pauls Valley and in 1957 she married Sonny Boy Clayton in Gainsville, Texas. They made their home in Wynnewood for the past 42 years. She was a member of the Chapter of the Eastern Star and affiliated with the Holiness Church. Mrs. Clayton is survived by her husband, Sonny Clayton of the home, two sons; Roger Clayton and David Clayton, both of Norman; her mother, Beulah Riddle of Pauls Valley; three brothers; Bill Riddle and Jimmy Riddle, both of Pauls Balley, and Robert Riddle of Bixby; two sisters, Mildred McBride of Muskogee and Shirley Ragland of Pauls Valley; two grandchildren, Heath and Brittney of Davis, along with several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her father and two sons. Carmel L. Boydston Carmel L. Boydston, Edmond, passed away May 27, 199 in Midwest City at the age of 87. She was born in Rally Hill, Arkansas (Boone County) on October 29, 1911 to William Riley Young and Eliza Elmeda Stone Young. Boydston had lived in Edmond since 1955. She graduated high school from Luther. On December 2, 1931 she married Eugene Boydston, who preceded her in death on September 6, 1994. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Edmond and the Business Women's Association. She was a homemaker as well as a bookkeeper for Snyder's Hardware until her retirement. Survivors include two sons, Bob Boydston of Lindsay and Don Boydston of Shawnee, four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren and a brother, Harold Young of Oklahoma City. She was preceded in death by her husband, both parents, three brothers, and a sister. Lewis of Lexington, passed away Sunday, May 30, 1999 in Purcell at the age of 66. He was born Sept 9, 1932 to John William and Lillie Mae Burleson Lewis. Lewis was self employed as a truck driver most of his life but he also worked as a ranch hand and for the Cleveland County Yard. He was born in Hutchinson, Kansas on Dec 13, 1936 to Mervin Hubert Parker and Martha Marine Mills Parker. He is preceded in death by both parents and one sister, Marjorie Gonzalus. Eugene lived with his sister, Patsy Wallace in Steigler, Okla. and later moved inot Honor Heights Nursing Home in Muskogee. Ruby (Scott) Butts Ruby Butts, 89, of Pauls Valley was born Feb 25, 1910 in Pauls Valley. She passed away Monday, April 5, 1999 in Norman. Mrs. Butts married T.J. "Pete" Butts on April 1, 1931. She was a longtime resident of the Walker community, a member of the Walker Baptist Church and was a cook at Walker School for many years. She is survived by her two sons: James Ray (Jim) Butts and Truman Scott Butts, both of Pauls Valley; three grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; twp great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Oleta Mink of Phoenix, Arizona; and many other relatives and friends.
