BOYD Family Cemetery

Lamar, Hughes County, Oklahoma

This cemetery is just outside of Lamar. I understand that only two graves are here. Click here to see the graves.

William J BOYD (1842-191X) and his wife, Martha BOYD, (1843-191X) are supposed to be buried in the plots.

The graves were located about 1 ½ miles south east of town.  For reference, they are about ½ mile east of the intersection of roads NS 387 & EW 133, just past a bridge on the north side of the road.  They are about 50 feet from the road and surrounded by a 4’ chain link fence.  Unfortunately there were no grave markers, so the birth/death dates.

The area is flat and has apparently been covered recently with gravel over a plastic liner to keep out weeds.  There was a pot of artificial flowers on one end.  Arvil said the last time he remembered seeing the graves they were overgrown.  From the looks of things, I think someone has been to the gravesite in the past year, if not earlier this summer, because there were hardly any weeds inside the fence enclosure and I didn’t see any limbs or other debris inside the fence.

Please take a look at The House That BOYD Built. Early 1900's house in the Lamar area.
