Birch-Benson Camp on the Cimarron

submitted by Ned Benson

2 photos of the Birch-Benson camp on the Cimarron north of Guthrie, taken in the winter in the days when the Cimmaron would freeze. This was the place the families of H. E. (Hal) and Nellie Kongable Birch and Vol and Lena Kongable Benson would go to escape the heat of Guthrie in the summer. I don't know if they owned the land or just built the shack on the bank of the river. It was gone before my time visiting Uncle Hal and Aunt Nellie in the 1950s.
