CONFEDERATE REUNION
ABOUT 1910
This is a picture of a Confederate Reunion in Madill, Oklahoma about 1910. Col. Thomas Dorsey Taliaferro is on the top far right. His daughter Varina is standing next to him. Thomas Dorsey is wearing a cap because of the light and the problem with his eyes. He is also wearing his Confederate uniform in the picture.
I know he was a member of a confederate organization in Madill. I am not sure if he organized it.
Top Left to Right: (1.-3 )unknown (4.) William Taliaferro (TD's brother) (5.) Leslie Sewell Taliaferro (TD's brother) (6-8)unknown ( 9). Varina Taliaferro (TD's daughter) (10.) Col. TD Taliaferro
Bottom Left to Right: (1-6 )unknown
(NOTE) One of the unidentified gentlemen in the picture is Alfred Miles Carroll (my great-great grandfather. He is first row second on the right (he has a ribbon on his vest and a crippled right arm). He served only six months in the 5th Tennessee Infantry and was wounded Nov 16, 1861 while serving at Columbus, KY. His pension stated he was wounded and crippled in the Battle of Belmont - the 5th stayed on the Kentucky side of the river during the battle and was under constant shelling by Union gunboats to keep reinforcements from being sent across to Belmont. I have a picture taken prior to this one of him with his wife. They are both buried in the Powell cemetery. One of the other fellows may be his brother William A. Carroll, but I'm not certain about that.
