Gale Martin buried at Hogan Cemetery by her sister Joyce Coleen Moore.   

Gale Martin was born on January 22, 1943, in Murphy, Oklahoma, to Jack D. and Virginia (Weeks) Wood. She departed this life on Friday, May 1, 2009, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, at the age of 66 years, 3 months, and 9 days.

Gale graduated from Locust Grove High School as a part of the Class of 1961. She had also attended the OSU at Okmulgee for classes in computer science. On July 28, 1961, Gale and Billy Gene Martin were united in marriage in Wagoner, Oklahoma. Gale and Billy were married for over 29 years when he preceded her in death in 1990.

Gale moved to Oklahoma in 1951. She had lived in Pryor since 1996 and also had lived in Beggs and Broken Arrow. She also had spent some time in Visiala, California and Springdale, Arkansas. Gale was a homemaker that enjoyed crocheting and crafts. But most of all, she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

She is survived by: 4 children: Regina Gayle Thompson and husband Brian of Locust Grove, OK, Dianna Cheryl Shanks of Pryor, OK, Alisha Dawn Taylor and husband Kevin of Okmulgee, OK, and Stephen Wade Martin of Okmulgee, OK; 6 grandchildren: Kristen Eve Maulsby of Pagosa Springs, CO, Jennifer Leanne Johnson and husband Nick of Bixby, OK, Tyler Dan Shanks of Pryor, OK, Kevin Gene Taylor II of Okmulgee, OK, Kody Lee Taylor of Okmulgee, OK, and Cody Wade Martin of Keifer, OK; 1 brother: Jack David Wood; a special niece: L. Lorrie Durick; close friend since 1951: Mary Lou (Coverdell) Boyer of Elgin, TX; all her classmates of 1961; other relatives and a host of friends. Gale was preceded in death by: parents: Jack and Virginia Wood; husband: Billy Gene Martin; 1 grandchild: Matthew Clark Maulsby; 1 sister: Joyce Colleen Moore; close friend: Lorene Graham.

Graveside services were held 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, May 6, 2009 at the Hogan Cemetery in Locust Grove. Reverend Shawn Bates officiated. Services have been entrusted to the Locust Grove Funeral Home.
