Hanna Friday July 10, 1914 Richest country on the Canadian River votes themselves out of Hughes County to make their home with us. Approximately one million dollars worth of property to be added to McIntosh County. Thursday July 9, an election was held in the thriving little city of Hanna and Hanna Precinct. The good people of that community voted themselves out of Hughes County and asked to become a part of McIntosh County. There was very little opposition among the people of that county against the annexation and the election carried almost unanimous. There was 167 votes for the annexation and 27 against the proposition. An election will be called in McIntosh County not less than 30 days nor more than 40 days for the purpose of receiving these people and their country into our county and we believe three is no question but that they will be received with open arms and will extend a hearty welcome to make them at home for all times to come. Hanna is a growing and prosperous little city with a population between 900 and 1,000 inhabitants. Her business men are a bunch of live wires and her citizens are second to none, always greeting others with open arms and glad hand. Her farmers and the surrounding country are happy, intelligent, industri9us people, whom any people any where would be glad to call them their neighbor and friend. They are willing to come in and help pay the running expense of the county and our government, there by reducing the taxes of McIntosh County at least ten per cent to start with and a great deal more a little later on as their county develops and increases in population. The citizens of McIntosh County are known as a group who never let the grass grow under their feet and who are always on the look out for better and greater things for their county so we doubt that there will by any opposition against these good people joining us. here is a chance to reduce taxes and to increase our population, let's not stand still , let's grow. Here is an opportunity of a life time to let Old McIntosh County come into her own and make her the greatest and richest agricultural county in the state of Oklahoma. Let's make the rest of her great counties of Oklahoma set up and take notice. Let's pass the word out over the state that McIntosh is the banner County of Oklahoma.
