H. E. Reid

Again the hand of death has visited our midst and this time our esteemed townsman H. E. Reid, who died at his residence in Terlton, Oklahoma Tuesday, 28 September 1909.

Hezekiah Elisha Reid eas born 2 July 1844 in Macon County, Tennessee. He married Kitty Hanah Haines, 2 October 1865 and this union has brought forth eight children, six of whom are living and two having died in Kansas.

Besides the widow he leaves: Noel P. Reid, of Stafford Kansas; William P Reid, of Wichita, Kansas; Mrs. Myrtle F. Alexander, of Randlett, Oklahoma; Harvey R. Reid of Boulder, Colorado; Dollie P. Reid and Anita M. Reid of Terlton.

Mr. Reid moved to Kansas in 1876 and lived on the farm near Augusta until 1892 when he moved to Oklahoma, locating near Stillwell. A year later he moved on his claim east of Terlton and remained there until selling his farm in 1904 when he moved to Terlton.

He was a hard working and industrious man, loving husband and a good father. He had a host of friends and neighbors that deeply feel his loss.

The funeral services were held at the Later Day Saints Church yesterday morning at 11 o'clock and were conducted by Reverand Case. Mr Reid was a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church South.
