Ada Evening News Tuesday, January 6, 1970 VESTA SHERMAN Services for VESTA SHERMAN, 85, 530 E. 12th, will be at 4 p.m. Wednesday in the Smith Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. HERMAN GING will conduct the services. Burial will be in Rosedale cemetery. Mrs. Sherman died Monday in a local hospital. She was born Jan. 26, 1884 in Gilmer, Texas. Her father, GILMER CARROLL HART, was one of the pioneers of Gilmer, Texas, his residence being almost coincident with the establishment of the town. She was married to IRA MARVIN SHERMAN at Sulphur Springs, Texas, June 17, 1903. Her husband died in 1921. She has been a resident of Ada for 50 years and had lived in Oklahoma since 1914. She was a member of the First Methodist Church at Gilmer, Texas. Survivors include a daughter, GLADYS SHERMAN, of the home, a sister, Mrs. E. BOBO of Tyler, Texas, and a brother, CLAUD HART of Tyler, Texas. Bearers will be GUY SHIPE, GUY MEADORS, JOE ROPER, S. O. CHAPPELL, ROY YOUNG and YANDELL LAIN. Ada Weekly News November 3, 1921 Page 5 >From Friday's Daily MARVIN SHERMAN of 509 East 13th St., died in the Sherman Hospital at Sherman, Texas, Thursday night, and was buried here this afternoon. The funeral services were conducted at the home, Rev. R. C. TAYLOR officiating. Interment was at Rosedale. Mr. Sherman was taken to Sherman for an operation. Pneumonia set in soon after the operation and he was unable to ward off death. He is a son of Rev. I. B. SHERMAN of 921 East 14th . In addition to his father and mother, several brothers and sisters, a wife and small boy and girl survive him. He was 39 years old. GRIMES, officiating. Interment in Rosedale cemetery. Mr. Sherman had resided in Ada for many years and enjoyed the esteem of a large circle of friends. He is survived by his widow, three sons and four daughters.
