Harlen D.C. Armstrong, 80, of Shady Point, passed from this world to join his Lord and Savior on Sunday, July 27, 2003, at Fort Smith, Ark. He was born at Poteau in LeFlore County on Dec. 26, 1922. He was born in LeFlore County to Pat and Evie Armstrong. During World War II he served with the U.S. Army Occupation of Japan. He lived in Dumas, Texas for 23 years, where he worked at the American Zinc Smelting Plant. After returning to Oklahoma, he owned and operated a dairy and a hay baling service in Shady Point. Known as "Brother Happy" he was a loved and devoted Christian. He and his wife Dorothy Armstrong are members of the Faith Miracle Revival Center.

He was preceded in death by Marion Lovell Armstrong, his wife of 45 years; and his daughter, Joyce Gullick.

Survivors include his wife Dorothy; five daughters, Phyllis Gullick of Noble, Tonna Armstrong and Donna Snook, both of Shady Point, Betsy Abbott of Perryton, Texas, Teresa Lowry of New Braunfels, Texas; two sons, Lynn Armstrong of Panama and James Armstrong of Shady Point; one sister, Joyce Thompson of Poteau; two brothers, Buford Armstrong of Fort Smith, Ark. and Willis "Chuck" Armstrong of Spiro; 22 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and five step children.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 30 with the Rev. Garner Pool officiating. Burial will follow in Shady Point Cemetery under the direction of Evans & Miller Funeral Home of Poteau.
