Kin M. Basden, 62, of Fort Smith, Ark., formerly of Spiro, passed away Wednes-day, May 28, 2003, in Fort Smith, Ark. He was raised the baby of 12 in Quinton and spent his life loving God and his family. He enjoyed sports of all kinds, playing dominoes and going after the big catch. He taught school and retired from Spiro Schools after teaching for 28 years where he was presented with many Teacher of Excellence Awards. He was a deacon of the First Baptist church for 27 years and was always ready to talk about his love for Jesus Christ. He was preceded in death by his parents, W.J. and Annie Basden of Quinton; four brothers, Ernest, Frank, Robert and Jack Basden. Survivors include his wife Mary A. Basden of the home; two daughters, Natalie Hedges of Fort Smith and Tawnya Stout of Jacksonville, N.C.; four grandchildren, Annie and Barrett Hedges and Carley and Cassidy Stout; two brothers, Marvin and Jerry Basden of Eufaula; five sisters, Pauline Boone and Mildred Borden, both of Oklahoma City, Patsy Butler of Whitefield, Nita Basden and Alma Basden, both of Eufaula. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 31 at the First Baptist Church of Spiro. Burial will follow in New Hope Garden of Memories at Murry Spur under the direction of Mallory Funeral Home of Spiro. Pallbearers will be David Hedges, Chuck Stout, Frank Plummer, Mike Skelton, Lynn Shaffer and Brian Brooks. |
