Shirley Bennett, 53, of Panama, died Monday, Dec. 11, 2000. She was born Oct. 4, 1947 in Mena, Ark. Mrs. Bennett was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her father Tommie Dunigan; two sisters, Linda Sue Dunigan and Bernice Cannon.

She is survived by her husband Freddie, of the home; one daughter and son-in-law, Sherry and Jimmy Tanksley of Panama; four sons and daughters-in-law, Joe and Amanda Thomas, Bobby McFatridge, Freddie Bennett Jr., all of  Panama, and Jeff and Anne Bennett of Oklahoma City; her mother and stepfather, Bill and Betty Rupe of Shady Point; five sisters, Patsy Lamberson, Debrah Beshirs, Brenda Moss, and Sheila Tollison, all of Shady Point, and  Norma Hobbs of Poteau; five brothers, Jimmie Dunigan of Charlotte, N.C., Richard Dunigan of Texarkana, Ark., Freddie Dunigan of Cameron, David Dunigan and Ricky Dunigan, both of Poteau; seven grandchildren, Charles,  Sammy, Megan, Jessy, Linda, Joe, and Hannah.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 16 at Evans Chapel of Memories in Poteau. Burial will follow at Shady Point Cemetery under the direction of Evans and Miller Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Joe Thomas, Bobby McFatridge, Freddie Bennett Jr., Jeff Bennett and Jimmy.
