Floyd Fredrick Cassady, 86, of Talihina, formerly of Oklahoma City, passed away Friday, April 4, 2003, at Talihina. He was born Dec. 12, 1916 in Sequoyah County to W.F. Cassady and Bonnie Rhodes. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and in the Marines during the Korean Conflict. He married Lorene James on Nov. 21, 1946 in Drumwright and in later years he managed a service station in Oklahoma City. After his retirement he came to Talihina where he has resided for the past several years. He was of the Baptist faith.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; one son, Greg; and two sisters-in-law, Geraldine and Freda.

Survivors include a daughter-in-law, Sandy Cassady; one grandson, Matthew Sweet and wife Jeni of Edmond; one great-grandson, Austin Sweet, of Edmond; one sister, Betty Land of Sallisaw; brothers-in-law, Kenneth, Gene and Donald James, all of Sallisaw, O.C. James of Tulsa, Harold James of Norman; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Services were held at 10 a.m. Monday, April 7 at the Talihina Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Dan Nix officiating. Burial followed in Sallisaw City Cemetery under the direction of Talihina Funeral Home.

TALIHINA — Floyd Frederick “Dude” Cassady, 86, of Talihina died Friday, April 4, 2003, in Talihina. He was born Dec. 12, 1916, in Sequoyah County. He served in the Navy during World War II and in the Marines during the Korean War. He managed a service station in Oklahoma City. After his retirement he moved to Talihina, where he resided for the past several years. He was of the Baptist faith and was the widower of Lorene James.

Funeral will be 10 a.m. today at the Talihina Funeral Home Chapel with burial at the Sallisaw City Cemetery.

He is survived by a sister, Betty Land of Sallisaw; one grandchild and one great-grandchild.
