Garland Breckenridge 'Bud' Gibbs, 79, of Spiro, passed away Friday, Oct.
3, 2003, in Fort Smith, Ark. He was born Oct. 18, 1923 at Jenny Lind,
Ark. to Garland Breckenridge Sr. and Georgie Leona (Pearson) Gibbs. He
was a forklift driver. He was a member of Lakeview Baptist Church, a
lifetime member of Jenny Lind Masonic Lodge No. 503, a U.S. Navy veteran
in World War II, a member of the Spiro VFW and the American Legion and
was retired from Dixie Cup in Fort Smith.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one stepdaughter, Myrna
Depierne; one grandson, Steve Rodgers; and three brothers, Dempsey,
Denver and John Gibbs.
Survivors include his wife Mildred of the home; three daughters, Brenda
Shaw and husband Pat of Spiro, Nancy Lang of Arnold, Calif. and Deborah
Smith of Modesto, Calif.; one stepson, Ronnie Parent and wife Jane of
Spiro; 12 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 7 at the Lakeview Baptist
Church with the Revs. Buel Lewallen and James Stout officiating. Burial
will follow in New Hope Cemetery at Spiro under the direction of Mallory
Funeral Home of Spiro.
Military rites conducted by the Veterans of Foreign Affairs Post 4446 of
Stigler.
