Memorial services for Mayme Lanelle Hyde, 85, of Tahlequah, Okla., will
be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 20, 2003 at the Hart Funeral Home
Chapel with the Rev. Jim Dearborn officiating. Services are under the
direction of Hart Funeral Home.
Mayme Lanelle Hyde was born to John Riley and Tilda (Hinsley) Barnes on
March 21, 1918 in Red Oak, Okla. and passed away on Aug. 17, 2003 in
Tahlequah.
After graduating from school, she married James A. Hyde in 1937, in
Tulsa, Okla. Together they raised a daughter, Sandra. She was the owner
of the Dairy King for 17 years in Shreveport, La. After retiring from
her business, she moved to Oklahoma. In 1999, she moved to Tahlequah.
She was a member of the Garden Club in Poteau, Okla. and the O.E.S.
Antlers Oklahoma Chapter No. 414. Mayme was known for her knowledge in
plant identification and she specialized in horticulture. She also
raised gorgeous flower gardens and was a member of the Northeastern
Independent Christian Church. All who knew her will miss Mayme.
Mayme was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James A. Hyde
in 1984; and a brother, Howard Barnes.
Mayme is survived by her daughter, Sandra and husband Gary Parham of
Tahlequah; and a grandchild, Alex Farrell of Tahlequah; as well as a
host of friends and loved ones.
