Archie Lloyd James, 71, passed away Saturday, Feb. 22, 2003, in Cali-fornia. He was born in Howe and lived in southern California for the past two months. In the late 1940s he played for the Howe High School basketball team. He was known as "The Galloping Ghost of No. 10." Archie was also an avid sports fan, and loved to hunt and fish. His father's name was Zollie Thelbert James and his mother's name was Deanie C. Nichols, both from Howe. Archie is survived by his wife Ione Helen James of Corona Hills, Calif.; two sons, Scott of Corona Hills and Steven of Mission Viejo; two grandchildren; one brother, Curtis of Poteau; and three sisters, Lebrica Binns of Poteau, Leona Teel of Ardmore and Cassie Jones of Oklahoma City. The memorial service will be private. Dad is gone but not forgotten.
