Horace J. Kilgore, 71, of Shady Point, passed away Tuesday, June 3, 2003. He was born May 12, 1932 in Hot Springs, Ark. to Horace and Susie (Pettit) Kilgore. He married his best friend and true love, Mary Devoll on Jan. 3, 1951 in Lubbock, Texas. He worked as a sheet metal fabricator for Spring Engineer of Dallas, Texas. He was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Shady Point. He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, James and Jackie Kilgore. Survivors include his wife of the home; one daughter, Cathy Kilgore of Houston, Texas; one son, Stephen Kilgore of Fort Smith, Ark.; two grandchildren, Jennifer Kilgore and Stephen Kilgore Jr. of Fort Smith; four brother, Lawrence Kilgore of Porter, Texas, Bill Kilgore of Grand Prairie, Texas, Don Kilgore of California and John Kilgore of Modesto, Calif.; three sisters, Evelyn Freeland of San Jose, Calif., Martha Yeager of Shady Point and Mary Donahou of Modesto, Calif.; and many other beloved family and friends. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 5 at the Grace Manor Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Joe Owen officiating. Burial will follow at the Shady Point Cemetery under the direction of Grace Manor Funeral Home of Poteau. Viewing will be held from 8 a.m. to noon on Thursday, May 5.
