Joe Leon McDaniel, 69, of Wister, passed away Saturday, Feb. 15, 2003 at Muldrow. He was born July 18, 1933 at Poteau. He was a veteran of the United States Army where he served in World War II and he was a truck driver. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas S. and Lucy (Underwood) McDaniel; three brothers, Don, Jerry and Dean McDaniel; one sister, Patricia Ann Wooten; and one granddaughter. Survivors include one daughter, Deborah Carol Thach of Muldrow; one son, James Paul McDaniel of Muldrow; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Lena Delores Harrison of Wister and Jill Vore of Moore; one brother, Tom McDaniel; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and loved ones; and a host of beloved friends. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 19 in Ellis Chapel Cemetery at Wister with the Rev. Jack Covey officiating, under the direction of Evans & Miller Funeral Home of Poteau.
