Photo Nelson “Gene” Morris, 73, of Fort Smith, formerly of Spiro, died Tuesday, July 1, 2002, in Fort Smith. He was retired from Gen-Corp. as a maintenance boilermaker, a Navy veteran where he received the China Service Medal, Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Korean Presidential United Citation, a member of Fort Smith Men’s Bowing Association, the VFW in Spiro and Ellig-Stoufer Post No. 31, American Legion of Fort Smith. Funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Mallory Funeral Home Chapel in Spiro with burial at New Hope Cemetery in Spiro. He is survived by his wife, Patsy; a daughter, Susan Longobucco of Poteau; a son, Larry Morris of Spiro; two stepsons, Robert and John Settle, both of Fort Smith; two sisters, Fay Shuffield of Bismarck and Fredia White of Los Angeles; two grandchildren and three stepgrandchildren. Pallbearers will be J.D. Beane, Gene Lowery, Jim Dooley, Gearld Pickett, James Edward and Roy Culverson. The body may be viewed 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. today and 8 a.m. to noon Friday. Memorial contributions may be made to American Heart Association. |
