Harland S. Nelson, 64, of Cowlington, passed away Friday, July 4, 2003.
He was born April 25, 1939 at Cowlington to Samuel L. and Della I.
(Wilson) Nelson. He was a mechanic, enjoyed fishing, playing pitch and
shuffleboard, and collecting coins.
Survivors include one daughter, Carolyn Hammontree and husband Bobby of
Spiro; two sons, Kenny Nelson of Keota and Michael Nelson of Fort Smith,
Ark.; one sister, Joyce Durand and husband Jacques of Marana, Ariz.; two
grandchildren, Bobby Lee Hammontree and wife Angie and Bradley
Hammontree, all of Spiro; two great-grandchildren, Blake Hammontree and
Brandon Hammontree, both of Spiro; care-provider, Carole Nelson; several
nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, July 7 in Cowling
Cemetery with the Rev. Jerry Turner officiating, under the direction of
Mallory Funeral Home of Spiro.
Pallbearers were Kenny Nelson, Michael Nelson, Bobby J. Hammontree,
Bobby L. Hammontree, Bradley Hammontree, Rick Nelson and Gary Nelson.
Honorary pallbearers were Warren Nixon, Donnie Nixon, Gary Hill and
Erick Brooks.
