In memory of David K. Nickell (King David) David K. Nickell 70, of Wilburton, passed away Wednesday, April 23, 2003. He was born April 1, 1933 at Hazel Valley, Ark. to Robert and Lela May Nickell. He met and married Luvetta Shores on Oct. 19, 1957 in Oxnard, Calif. They were married for 46 years. David was a veteran serving with the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the VFW and a 32nd Degree Mason. He was of the Baptist faith and a member of the El Rio Baptist Church in El Rio, Calif. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers; five sisters; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Edna and Lester Shores. Survivors include his wife Luvetta Nickell of the home; four sons and two daughters-in-law, Stacey Victor Nickell of Poteau, Erick Kevin and Dian Nickell of Delores, Colo., Fred and Mary James of Wilburton and Buck Ward of Tulsa; two daughters and one son-in-law, Tina Marie Flener and Donna June and Tim Forwoodson, all of Wilburton; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Kenneth and Kathy Schiwart and Judy Shores, all of Wilburton, Wayne and Shirleen Roark of Idaho, Wilburn and Shirley Shores of Paris, Texas, Arnold and Myrtle Shores of McAlester, Jimmie and Sue Shores of Wellsville, Kan., Marvin and Pat Shores of Shasta, Calif.; nephews, Lonnie Nickell Jr. of Fayetteville, Ark. and Ronnie Nickell of Arkansas; one niece, Sue Nickell of Fayetteville, Ark.; several other nieces, nephews; 21 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 26 at the Waldrop Funeral Home Chapel in Wilburton with the Revs. David Ward, Butch Booth, Paul Dennis and Ralph Wilson officiating. Burial will follow in Nickell Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Waldrop Funeral Home of Wilburton. Pallbearers will be Landon Nickell, Stacey Nickell, Stacey Nickell II, Richard Flener II, David Nickell, Robert Nickell, Kenneth Schiwart, Erick Nickell, Tim Forwoodson, Fred James and Buck Ward. Honorary pallbearers will be the Wilburton Masonic Lodge No. 41.
