Jerry W. Shelton, 57, departed this life after a courageous battle with brain cancer, in the comfort of his home that he shared with Debbie for 25 years.

Jerry was born to Gerald and Evelyn Shelton in Wewoka, Okla. Jerry was registered in the Seminole Nations books. Jerry had worked as a furniture upholsterer/trimmer up until his illness for 35 years.

Jerry was a 40-year member of the American Bowling Congress. Jerry rolled his first 300 at Pro Village Bowl in San Lorenzo, Calif., in March 1967. He was the first person to do this at his house. He recorded another 300 in 1994 and his high series was 810 in 1995.

Memorial service will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel. His cremains will be buried in the family plot in Shady Point.

Jerry was preceded in death by his father, Gerald Shelton.

Jerry leaves behind his companion of 25 years, Debbie Roam; his mother, Evelyn Shelton of Fort Smith; three daughters, Tammy Duncan of Fort Smith, Wendy Schooley of Wichita Falls, Texas, and Christy Cunningham of Barling; a son, Jerry Lee Shelton of Fort Smith; a brother and sister-in-law, Earl and Toni King of Austin, Texas; a sister and brother-in-law, Sandy and Johnny Burris of Fort Smith; and nine grandchildren.
