Sylmand Edward 'S.E.' Welch, 76, of Buffalo Valley, passed away Thursday, July 24, 2003, in Fort Smith, Ark. He was born June 7, 1928 at Laura to Ezra Welch and Ola Vesta Wafford-Welch. He was a Sergeant in the U.S. Air Force and served as an airplane hydraulic mechanic but he was a rancher by trade. He married Bea Roberts on Aug. 6, 1978 in Albion. He was a member of the Talihina and Tuskahoma Masonic Lodge, the McAlester Scottish Rite and the Albion Church of Christ. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother Clint Welch; and his sister, Norma Gerber. Survivors include his wife of the home; one son, George and Michelle Welch of Melbourne, Ark.; one daughter, Febrena Welch of Buffalo Valley; five granddaughters, Rachelle, Jennifer and Morgan Welch, Taylor Griffith and Reagan Carter; five sisters, Lillie Eddy, Erma Nell Mora, Evelyn Carter, Eula Wyrick, and Phyllis Easy; and Vera Stepp who was like a mother to him; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, July 28 at the Albion Church of Christ with Dick Stites officiating and Dr. Dee Baughman leading the singing. Burial will follow at the Albion Cemetery [Pushmataha County] under the direction of Talihina Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Don Kirkes, Frank Schield, Glenn Stripling, Shawn Pierce, Brian Kirkes and John Roberts. |
