Carmond Walter "Nick" Nichols, 69, of Poteau, passed away Thursday, March 7, 2002, in Van Buren. He was born Oct. 29, 1932.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Heavener and worked for Kansas City Southern Railroad for 44 years, retiring in 1994. He was a member of the Lions Club.
Survivors include his wife Cecile of the home; one daughter, Carole Jones of Columbia, S.C.; four sons, Bobby Nichols of Dallas, Randy Nichols and Brett Nichols, both of Heavener and Roger Nichols of Poteau; his mother, Marie Nichols of Poteau; one aunt, Irene Schrodt of Poteau; seven granddaughters, Crystal Nichols, Bobbie Jo Shrum, Brandy Moon, Nikki Nichols, Jennifer Rojas, Sean Nichols and Shannon Nichols; two great-granddaughters, Hunter Moon and Michael A. Nichols; Pat Bogges of California; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and loved ones; and a host of beloved friends.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 9 with the Rev. James Crawford officiating. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery under the direction of Evans & Miller Funeral Home of Poteau.
Pallbearers will be Bobby Nichols, Randy Nichols, Brett Nichols, Roger Nichols, Paul Stottsberry, Bob Lindstrom and Perry Renfro.
Honorary pallbearer will be Sherman York.
