Ben B. Smedley, 94, of Poteau, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2003. He was born July 4, 1908 at Hartford, Ark. He was a machinist/rewinding. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Poteau.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel and Susie (Burkle) Smedley; one son, Don Smedley; two brothers, Nick and Bob Smedley; and two sisters, Nell and Anna.
Survivors include his wife Phyllis of the home; one son and daughter-in-law, James K. and Lavern Smedley of Octavia; one sister, Ruth Brown of Houston, Texas; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and loved ones; and a host of beloved friends.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 25 at the First Baptist Church of Poteau with the Rev. Phil McGehee officiating. Burial will follow in
Oakland Cemetery at Poteau under the direction of Evans & Miller Funeral Home of Poteau.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons.
