Retired U.S. Marine Corps Sgt. Major O.B. "Muddy" Waters, 75, died Wednesday in a local hospital.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Abilene First United Methodist Church with Dr. Tom Thomson officiating.
Graveside services with military honors will be at 3 p.m. Saturday in Oakland Cemetery in Poteau, Okla., with
the Rev. Jim Roberts officiating, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 5701 U.S. Hwy 277 South.
Mr. Waters was born in Shady Point, Okla., and was in the Marine Corps for 33 years until retiring. He served
in World War II, the Korean conflict and Vietnam. He married Lyndle Palmer in 1948 in Van Buren, Ark. He worked
for Glen L. Martin Aircraft Mechanics for 1-1/2 years and also for the welfare department in Poteau, Okla. He
was a member of Abilene First United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, of Abilene; one son, Randal "Randy" Waters of Nacogdoches; one daughter, Susan
Brooks of Abilene; and three grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today in the funeral home.
