Lee R. Castillo, 94, passed away Thursday, June 13, 2002, in Wagoner. He was born March 3, 1908 in Broken Arrow to Charlie and Josephine (Cooper) Castillo. He married Verona Mae Brown on Nov. 9, 1927 in Wagoner. He was a member of the Church of God in Wagoner and served as trustee, Sunday School teacher and song leader. He was retired from Spartan Aircraft as a mechanic and enjoyed gardening.
He was preceded in death by his wife in Dec. 15, 1990; his parents; one son, Ralph Lee Castillo in 1950; one brother, Earl Castillo; three grandsons, Chucky, Timothy and David Wayne; and one great-granddaughter, Oddessa.
Survivors include one daughter, Wanda Sowers of Tuttle; four sons and daughters-in-law, Charles and Virginia Castillo of Wagoner, Vernon and Oreta Castillo of Chouteau, David Castillo and Billie of Okay and Jerry Castillo and May of Shady Point; 20 grandchildren; 60 great-grandchildren; 37
great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, June 17 in the Church of God in Wagoner with the Revs. Carl Murphy and Gaylon Brumley officiating. Burial followed in Elmwood Cemetery in Wagoner under the direction of Hersman-Nichols Funeral Home of Wagoner.
Pallbearers were Boyd Rice Jr., Shawn Ford, Shannon Castillo, David Castillo Jr., Jerry Lee Castillo, Adam Castillo, Randy Henson and Guy Hawk Jr.
Honorary pallbearers were Vernon Goodman, Wayne Rosenthall, Jim Gladden, Ab Nichols, Jim Smith and Roger Lawrence.
