Don Stafford
SALLISAW - Don Stafford, 71, of Sallisaw died Saturday, June 22, 2002, in Fort Smith. He was born Aug. 22, 1930, in Newark. He was a graduate of Newark High School, sales broker for Brooker Sales in Wichita, Kan., former Singles Sunday school class teacher and taught Junior High Boys Sunday school, assistant teacher for the Mavericks Class, former fixed base operator for Sallisaw Municipal Airport, taught flying in Sallisaw, was employed with Oklahoma State Corporation Commission in the motor fuel division for 19 1/2 years, charter member of Eastside Baptist Church in Sallisaw, active in the choir and a member of the Gideons.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Eastside Baptist Church in Sallisaw with burial at Sallisaw City Cemetery under the direction of Agent Funeral Home of Sallisaw.
He is survived by his wife, Jo Ann; four daughters, Linda Hill of Cincinnati, Sheila Purvis of Savannah, Ga., Teresa Lancaster of Sallisaw and Tammy Aydelott of Roland; a son, Glenn Stafford of Vian; and eight grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Raymond Claiborn, Noel Lewallen and Bernell, Thomas, Bernard and Verdell Stafford.
The body may be viewed 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today and 9 a.m. to noon Wednesday at the funeral home.
Honorary pallbearers will be the Maverick Sunday school class at Eastside Bapitst Church and fuel inspectors for the State of Oklahoma.
The family will visit with friends at 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
