John E. Franklin, 74, of Spiro, passed away Friday, July 30,
2004, in Fort Smith, Ark. He was born Dec. 24, 1929 at Spiro to
Jim and Effie Edith (Williams) Franklin. He was a paint
repairman for Ford Motor Co. and also a veteran and a Mason.
He was preceded in death by his father, Jim Franklin; one son,
Little Johnny Franklin; two brothers, Ferrell and Jimmy
Franklin.
Survivors include his wife Wanda of the home; three sons, Eddie
Joe Franklin of Berryville, Ark., Alan Wayne Franklin of New
Orleans, La. and Mark Jeffrey Franklin of Chicago, Ill.; four
sisters, Lois Gragg and Julie Mae DeMoto and husband Johnny of
Spiro, Carolyn Embery and husband Bill of Okmulgee and Shirley
Powell of Excelsior Springs, Mo.; four brothers, Richard
Franklin and wife Marsha of Tulsa, Fred Franklin and wife Judy,
Pat Franklin and wife Thelma, and Luke Franklin and wife
Virginia, all of Spiro; his mother, Glessie Franklin; five
grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces,
nephews and other relatives.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 3 at the Harvest
Hill Assembly of God Church with the Rev. Andy Jones
officiating. Burial will follow in
New Hope Cemetery under
the direction of the Mallory-Martin Funeral Home of Spiro.
