Hoyt H. Smotherman, 79, of Poteau, Oklahoma, died Wednesday,
August 31, 1994, in a local hospital. He was an Army Veteran of
World War II and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post
No. 4518.
Grave side service will be at 2 P.M. today at
Oakland Cemetery
in Poteau, Oklahoma, under the direction of Evans and Miller
Funeral Home of Poteau.
He is survived by his wife Shirley; three daughters, Faye
Earls of Muldrow, Oklahoma, Carolyn Rogers of Alma, Arkansas,
and Betty Carlton of Cameron, Oklahoma; two step-daughters,
Sherry Hornburger of Poteau and Shalle Marie Hornburger of
Talequah, Oklahoma; a son, Hoyt Ray Smotherman of Fort Smith,
Arkansas; two step-sons, Billy Hornburger of Poteau, and Randy
Hornburger of Oklahoma City, Okla.; a sister, Elva Allen of
Muldrow; and several grandchildren.

POTEAU - Shirley Irene Smotherman, 62, of Poteau died
Saturday, April 7, 2001, in Tulsa. She was born Sept. 1, 1938.
She was a homemaker and the widow of Hoyt Smotherman.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday in Oakland Cemetery Pavilion
with burial at Oakland Cemetery in Poteau under the direction of
Evans & Miller Funeral Home of Poteau.
She is survived by two daughters, Sherry Hornburger of Poteau
and Shalle Marie Hornburger Hernandez of Miami; two sons, Billy
Hornburger of Poteau and Randy Hornburger of Oklahoma City;
three sisters, Doris McBride of Leflore, Alice Fix of Haysville,
Kan., and Marie Hatcher of Union City, Okla.; 10 grandchildren
and four great-grandchildren.
