Leon Watson, 84, of Shady Point, passed away Aug. 6, 2007, in
Fort Smith, Ark. He was born Aug. 1, 1923, to William McKinley
and Iva (Tubbs) Watson. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and
spent his days as a coal miner and rancher.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Eva Nell Watson;
parents; two sisters, Maxine Adams and Emmadean Watson; brother,
Marvin Watson. He is survived by his son, Larry Watson of Shady
Point; grandson and wife, Jonathan and Julie Watson of Havana,
Ark.; sister, Modean Daughtery of Pasadena, Texas.
Services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Evans
Chapel of Memories with interment following at
Oakland Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Tom Patterson, Buzz Curry, Jerry Hensley,
Jim Waddle, Jim Craig and Elmer Bowden. Honorary pallbearers
will be Wade Qualls, Robert Pierce, Dolphis Fout and Robert
Adams. The family requests that no food be brought to the house.
Arrangements were made under the direction of Evans and Miller
Funeral Home in Poteau.
Eva Nell Watson, 75, of Shady Point, passed away
Thursday, Dec. 9, 2004. She was born Dec. 24, 1928, at Buck
Creek. She was a member of Latham Assembly of God Church, a
rancher and a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond William and
Della Mae (Brown) Wiles; and two brothers, Bill Wiles and Denver
Wiles.
Survivors include her husband of 58 years, Leon Watson of the
home; a son, Larry Leon Watson of Shady Point; a grandson,
Jonathan Dwayne and Julie Watson of Havana, Ark.; two sisters,
Norma Reeves of Moore and Elinor Pierce of Shady Point; a
brother, Frank Wiles of Shady Point; numerous nieces, nephews,
other relatives and loved ones; and a host of beloved friends.
The family will gather at the home of Frank Wiles in Shady
Point.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 12 at Evans Chapel
of Memories at Poteau with the Revs. Harrell Bates and J.C.
Walls. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery under the
direction of Evans & Miller Funeral Home of Poteau.
Pallbearers will be Jim Cluck, Larry Donathan, Hicks Hoffman,
Wade Qualls, Jerry Hensley and Tom Patterson.
Honorary pallbearers will be Kevin Hoffman and Kevin Cluck.
