Lorene Gladys Ragan Brown, 62, has passed away. She was
born in Tucker and was the daughter of Cora Ferrell and Jesse
James Ragan. She worked alongside her husband in a shipyard at
Richmond, Calif. during World War II as a "Rosy the Riveter. She
nurtured her children and helped her husband in his radiator
shop. She was a gardener and after retiring to Oklahoma became
an avid quilter and owned a machine quilting business for 15
years. Her friends, family and her special adopted family, Jay
and Connie McGee and their sons, will so dearly miss her.
Survivors include her husband, William M. Brown of the home;
three daughters, Betty Moss Null and husband Bill of Cotton
Valley, La., Dieane Harper and husband Robert of Poteau and
Sondra LaMonte of Ventura, Calif.; one son, Rickey Brown and
wife Linda of Spiro; five granddaughters, Tonuia Duck, Laura
Carter, Kimberley Woodard, Michelle LaMonte, Ann Marie Brown;
two grandsons, Justin Shea LaMonte, Rickey Brown Jr.; three
great-granddaughters, Cassie Moss, Lorie Carter, Brandy Woodard;
one great-grandson, Mark Carter Jr.; two great-granddaughters,
Amber Lee Marissa Scott and Olivia Brown.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, May 3 at Mallory
Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Robert Maxwell officiating. Burial
will follow in New Hope
Cemetery at Spiro under the direction of Mallory Funeral
Home of Spiro.
Pallbearers will be Steve Duck, Jay Brewer, Jerry Mann, Ron
Simmons, Allen Brewer and Jarrod McGee.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer
Society.
