Hazel Annetta Neese Marshall, 87, of Newport News, Va., formerly of Poteau, passed away Wednesday, May 19, 2004. She was born Nov. 12, 1916 at Wetumka. She was the youngest of eight children. She married Don A. Marshall in 1938. She spent the majority of her married life as a professor's wife at the University of Idaho in Moscow, Idaho. They retired to Poteau in 1979 and were active in the First Christian Church and enjoyed gardening. Don passed away in 1995 after 57 years of marriage. In 1998 she moved to Newport News, Va. to be close to her children. She dedicated her time and energy to her family, home and church and will be greatly missed. She will be remembered for her kindness and gentle spirit.

Survivors include her children, Don Allen Marshall of Indio, Calif., Wayne Lee Marshall of Kennewick, Wash., Mary Louise Marshall of Dublin, Ohio and Dr. Timothy Ray Marshall of Newport News, Va.; one sister Lillian Bamburg of Tulsa; one brother, Wilburn Neese of Wetumka; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; numerous other relatives and loved ones; and a host of beloved friends.

The family will be at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 25.

Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 26 at First Christian Church of Poteau with the Rev. Dennis Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery under the direction of Evans & Miller Funeral Home of Poteau.
