Jimmie Charles Martin, 67, of Shady Point, passed away Oct. 22,
2009 in Shady Point.
He was born Dec. 10, 1941 in Buck Creek. He attended barber
school. After getting out of high school he joined the Army then
worked on the pipeline for 18 years. He was an x-ray technician
before becoming a swine farmer. He loved playing music, hunting,
fishing, cooking, and gardening. He was known for his great
fudge.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Otto and Mary (Wiles)
Martin; an infant son and an infant daughter.
He is survived by his wife, Line Martin of the home; son,
Michael Martin, of Shady Point; daughter, Miranda Martin of
Shady Point; brothers and sisters-in-law, Jack and Billie Martin
of Shady Point and James Martin of Panama; sisters and
brothers-in-law, Joyce and Bill Minnis of Fort Smith, Donna
Kendrick of Poteau and Linda and Robert Brown of Poteau; and
numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends and loved
ones.
Pallbearers will be Michael, Jack, and James Martin, Leon,
Clifford, and Fred Midgley. Honorary pallbearers will be David
Martin and Joe Claborn.
Services will be conducted Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Evans Chapel
of Memories in Poteau. Reverend Junior Phillips will be
officiating. Interment will follow at
Fairview Cemetery in
Panama.
Arrangements are under the direction of Evans and Miller Funeral
Home, Poteau.
