John Partain was my grandfather----John moved to Oklahoma at
a early age with his mother and father, he set out on his own at
the age of 24,working in the coal mines, on the rail road and
the WPA, while digging a well for the WPA he met his future
wife, Leona Maxwell. They were married on October 30, 1907 at
Spiro Indian Territory Central District. John and Leona settled
in Bokoshe Oklahoma on a farm and raised 9 kids

Funeral service for John C. Partain, 83, of
Panama who Passed away January 9th,1968 at Poteau Hospital was
held at 2:30 pm Saturday, January 13th at the First Baptist
Church in Panama with Rev. Ervin Neaufeld officiating, Burial
was at Garden of Memories Cemetery in Spiro under direction of
Fisher Funeral Home.
Survivors include his wife, Leona; two daughters, Evelyn Barnes
of Poteau and Irene Watson of Tulsa; four sons, Carl of the
home, James of Clovis, California, Leonard of Pittsburg,
California, and John C. Jr. of Martinez, California; 17
grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mrs. Leona Partain, 77, Panama who died.
Sunday at the LeFlore County Memorial Hospital were held Tuesday
at the First Baptist Church it Panama.
Burial was held at Spiro City Cemetery, under direction of
Fisher Funeral Home, Survivors include four sons; Carl of
Panama, James o Fresno, Calif.; Leonard Pittsburg, Calif., and
John Jr. of Martinez. Calif.; two, daughters, Mrs. Evelyn
Barrie. of Poteau and Mrs. Irene Watson of Tulsa; three brothers
Arlie Maxwell of Vinita, Luther Maxwell of Snyder, and Frank of
Fresno, Calif.; one sister, Mrs. Lula McClary of Tulsa.
