Geneva Smith, 89, of Poteau passed away Monday, Nov. 1, 2004, in
the Oaks Healthcare Center in Poteau. She was born Nov. 21, 1914,
in Franklin County. She worked as a secretary for the LeFlore County
Superintendent of Schools, First Baptist Church, and retired from
the Department of Human Services. She was a member of First Baptist
Church for more than 50 years. She was a lifetime resident of this
area.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Smith; and
her parents, Grady and Ara Gill.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church in Poteau
with burial at Oakland Cemetery in Poteau with the Rev. Phil McGehee
officiating and arrangements under the direction of Evans &
Miller Funeral Home of Poteau.
She is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Genell and Arthur
Dellin of Claremore, Okla., Linda Ruth and Lucien Smith of Poteau,
and Bonnie and Gary Lytal of Tulsa; a brother and sister-in-law,
Arlen and Clara Gill of Oklahoma City; five grandchildren, Lance
and wife Tamara Smith of Monroe, Lucie and husband Joel Cape of
New Orleans, David and wife Julie Dellin of Pilot Point, Texas,
Benjamin Lytal of New York City, and Samuel Lytal of Tulsa; four
great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Smith of Monroe, Gracie and Grady
Cape of New Orleans, and Gage Dellin of Pilot Point, Texas; other
relatives and loved ones and a host of friends.
Pallbearers will be sons-in-law and grandsons.
The family will be at the funeral home Friday from 6:30 to 8:30
p.m. to visit with friends and relatives.
