Vernice Franklin Hanna Sr., 87, of Spiro, passed away
Friday, Aug. 27, 2004, in Fort Smith, Ark. He was born Oct. 29,
1916, at Williams to Abner Franklin and Frances Emmaline (Moore)
Hanna. He was a member of Lakeview Baptist Church, a former
policeman for the town of Spiro, a school bus driver for Spiro
Schools and a dump truck driver for LeFlore County. He loved
coon hunting and camping.
He was preceded in death by his parents; seven brothers and
sisters.
Survivors include his wife, Odessa of the home; two
daughters, Sue Skelton of Panama, and Alberta Greenwood of San
Andreas, Calif.; two stepdaughters, Nora Hamby of Spiro and
Jimmie Byers of Fort Smith, Ark.; four sons, Larry, Jonathan,
Vernice Hanna Jr., all of Spiro and Mike Hanna of Muldrow; four
stepsons, Zenas Smith of Russellville, Ark., Adrian and Dan
Smith of Shady Point, and DeShong Smith of Helena; one sister,
Faye Redwine of Spiro; 32 grandchildren; 58 great-grandchildren;
and 12 great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 2 .m. Monday, Aug. 30 at the
Lakeview Baptist Church with the Rev. Buel Lawellen officiating.
Burial will follow in New
Hope Cemetery under the direction of Mallory-Martin Funeral
Home of Spiro.
Pallbearers will be Larry Hanna II, Ricky Hanna, Rodney
Skelton, Billie Skelton, Rocky Skelton, Jonathan Hanna II, Dale
Hamby, Tommy Pennington and J.R. Smith.
